Can you tutor high school students or collage students, business people or adult students on a given subject?  Having established your credentials to teach a subject adequately you now need to try and get some training.  You can either get training through established schools like Kaplan or online training portals.

You have established that you have strong academic background; you are trained and ready to start earning extra bucks as a tutor, privately tutoring students.  Hold on for a minute, there are still some more hurdles to cross.  How many hours per day and per week you want to set aside for private tutoring and what rates you are going to charge to your students.  Lastly, how are you going to reach students who are looking for a tutor? You need to establish first how many hours in a day or a week you can set aside for private tutoring or are you in a position to take up private tutoring as a full time career. The next issue you need to decide is what rates you are going to charge to the students.  The rates you charge to the students are tied to your expertise of the subject and the level of students. Your rates will depend on whether you are tutoring school or college students or students who are going to sit for competitive exams like SAT, LSAT and GMAT.  The next step is to reach students who need private tutoring. One tried and tested method is through word of mouth, a satisfied student talks about your skill in tutoring to others and this creates a ripple effect and soon you are inundated with students all asking you to tutor them privately.
