French Lessons Online – Genders

Have you seriously decided to learn French? Or are you looking for just a few notions? No matter which way you opt, all you need is some online French classes which will teach you French language. French is a beautiful and romantic language to learn and it is also widely known as a language of passion and love.
When you start learning French through online French lessons, then you need to know that there are few notions that are to be followed by all the beginners and the first thing that you need to learn is the French grammar. Understanding the basic grammar structures and grammar as a whole is very crucial. Let me start by explaining the fundamental notions of grammar in French which is the notion of genders.
All nouns in French language will have genders which is either a masculine or a feminine. Some nouns and genders associations will make much sense than others. For example, “une femme” means a woman which is feminine and “un homme” which means a man or masculine. There are other associations that are pretty confusing, especially for beginners. Since there are no rules associated with the genders in French language, to make learning simple we should always take notes and hints with the definite articles that are associated with nouns. If we start making rules then there will be so many exceptions with which the rule breaks so it is advised to not to make rules with genders in French language.  For example, a chair can be written in French language as “une table” and a plane as “un avion”. In this way a gender is always associated with the noun and they can never be dissociated which is why it is important to learn genders.
After you start studying French language either through online French classes or in a school, you can notice some patterns in genders of the French language or some tendencies with genders. But you should be careful not to base your learning French language on these patterns and tendencies. It is highly not recommended.
All students who are learning French language will face difficulties with genders and understanding them. Basically, French language learners will face problems with associating a noun to gender. To understand this topic, you need to know some basic concepts.
The other important thing to notice is the use of prefixes and suffixes which can help us define the gender. For example, let us take some words, water which when translated into French is “l’eau” and skin is “la peau” are male because they ended with –eau. Both the nouns are male and the most important thing to note down is that there is no particular reason behind it. Let us take some female nouns which end with -ique like “un périphérique” which means peripheral and “un graphique” which means graph. Understanding the concept of genders is very important before you can move on to some advanced lessons and topics in French language.
